The POWER of PENN

Pennsylvania Carey Law School assigned The Perception to create a web experience to tell their story in an impactful way.

The Perception was tasked with creating a website to commemorate the success of the Power of Penn Campaign for the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. This campaign aims to reframe legal education to fit a newer and more complex world. We wanted to create an immersive website where users could learn about the campaign in a seamless experience.

UX & WIREFRAMES

First, we started with simple wireframes to lay out the majority of the content in the client provided outline. We wanted to create a story to highlight the key point of the campaign, told using a parallax site structure with a fixed height. The parallax scroll was a decision we made in order to create a really smooth design to guide users through the information.

NAVIGATIONS

The parallax structure of the site made it essential to have clear navigations to all of the content, given each screen was a set height. The hamburger navigation on each screen (shown above) guides users through each chapter. Some chapters (shown above, left), required secondary and tertiary navigations to guide users through all of the information.

THE DESIGN

The Power of Penn was a mighty campaign, and the design needed to reflect that. Neutral tones and shades of brown were used for the vertical scrolling chapters, while vibrant navy and bright red were used to highlight horizontal scrolling sections. The beautiful campus afforded stunning imagery to add texture to the design. The statistics we needed to feature allowed us to play with our typography and motion.
